Аннотация:About 70 compounds with a general formula RM3(BO3)4 where R-Y, La and lanthanides, Bi, In, and M = AI, Sc, Cr, Fe, Ga have been synthesized. The majority of them have been obtained as single crystals. Top seeded flux growth of RAl-borate crystals are the most popular. The bulk crystals have a length up to 50 mm.The condensed structure of borate melts restrict the process of crystallization. Therefore, in the crystallization of orthoborates with isolated BO3-triangles flux agents can be used which desroy boronoxygen polymers. Such fluxes for borate crystallization contain large cations such as K, Pb, Bi. The best technological fluxes for RAl-borates are K-polymolybdates. The melt temperatures (incongruently) slowly change with a change in the rR-cation. It strongly depends on the M-cation type: 1170-1290, 1020-1120, 850-I020°C for RAI-, RFe- and RGa-borates, respectively. RSc-borates melt practically congruently at about 1350°C. The phase transitions' temperatures of RAl-borates R32--~C2/c(C2) are i040-i150°C (except NAB with Tph.tr. R32-+C2/c ~ 880-900°C).
