Аннотация:A new approach to solving the controversial issue of the origin of the second-order folds in the flysch layers of the Taurian Series of the Crimean Mountains is proposed. Indicators of deformation in unconsolidated sediments, viz., the morphology of folds and their complexes were studied. Mass measurements of directions of fold axes and directive base marks that characterize the paleoslope orientation were performed. All measurement data were processed using the Stereonet program and mapped. Analysis of the data and comparison of these data with currently accepted slump models showed that the studied folds formed due to underwater landslides.
