Аннотация:The use of muon detectors in order to improve the rejection of background EAS produced by pro
tons and nuclei is proposed as part of the wideaperture TunkaHiSCORE γray telescope project. The area
of the muon detector and the depth of the bulk soil layer required for effective suppression of the electron–
photon component of EAS are substantiated. Results from tests of the IHEP muon detector with light col
lected by WLS fibers are discussed.
