Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) being one of the polythiophene derivatives can be obtained by a variety of methods. The main relationships between PEDOT properties and the synthetic procedure are described. EDOT emulsion polymerization is one of the perspective ways to obtain high conductive PEDOT. We have compared EDOT emulsion polymerization in the presence of different naphthalenesulfonic acid sodium salts and revealed the crucial role of emulsifier agent in the resulting PEDOT properties.
