Spectroscopy in the terahertz range potentially gives a lot of useful methods to the modern fundamental science and creates an opportunity for a variety of promising novel applications, such as terahertz imaging, terahertz chemical diagnostics (particularly in security service and pharmacology) and others. Now the most promising terahertz detection schemes are laser-driven ones, but unlike cryogenically cooled detectors; such optical schemes are unable to measure the absolute value of the detected terahertz wave radiation. We propose a laser driven continuous-wave terahertz detection scheme which can resolve this issue.
