Multiphoton tomography is a promising optical technique whichallows for non-invasive imaging of skin structure at the subcellular level with a real-time temporal resolution. Combination of two-photon autofluorescence and second harmonics imaging with fluorescence lifetime measurement makes it possible to discriminate between different cells and other structures, that provides for possibility of pathological processes monitoring, including skin cancer. In this work, we demonstrate the capabilities of fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM) of blood vessels in the human skin in vivo, with a focus on fluorescence properties of blood and tissues in the vicinity of capillaries. The work was supported by the Russian Science Foundation (grant №14-15-00602).
