For the celebration of 2013 as the International Year of Statistics, after several meetings, the University of Moncton (Canada), together with The University of Science of Hochiminh City, Ton Duc Thang University, the University of Economics and Law of Hochiminh City and Can Tho University, all located in VietNam, have decided to organize an INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE entitled "Statistics and its Interactions with Other Disciplines", on June 5-7, 2013, in Hochiminh City, VietNam. This conference will provide a forum for all Researchers, as well as Educators, working in the Statistical science field itself, or in any discipline using statistical methods, to present their work, and get to know other researchers as well. Contemporary statistics has blossomed into a rigorous scientific discipline with applications in numerous other areas, sometimes leading to the creation of entirely new domains. Traditionally based on mathematics, logic, linear algebra and probability theory, modern statistics has adopted many other tools, including computer methods, to make impressive forays into fields as diverse as image processing, wireless communications and genetics. These very applied disciplines, in turn, have often developed their own statistical techniques to serve their own needs, and these quite advanced techniques are frequently not understood by the theoretician. On the other hand, teaching statistical theory and practice lies at the basis of to-day’s education. What and how to teach statistics, within different disciplines, to obtain an optimal return? These questions are still being debated by educators at various levels.
